12-month position with salary and benefits determined by the Board of Education; follows the Green Bay Public School District Employee Handbook

Position

Purpose:

Support and coordinate the planning, organizing, managing, and administering the District’s safety and security plan to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and the public. Provide for compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS), Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA).

  • Coordinates safe practices and adheres to safety standards.
  • Supports coordination of the District’s safety and security programs [(ALICE and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)].
  • Supports investigations of job-related safety issues and complies with recommendations from insurance companies and agents regarding reductions in workforce injury rates.
  • Supports and conducts safety inspections of all buildings and investigates accidents and complaints regarding unsafe practices. Provides for safe playgrounds and investigates playground accidents.
  • Reviews all accident reports and initiates appropriate corrective action or adjustments where required.
  • Directs employees in small-scale, short-duration repairs involving asbestos.
  • Supports the District’s designated asbestos officer.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the district's asbestos training and records.
  • Works with architects and contractors to ensure compliance with life safety codes in all buildings.
  • Supports hazardous waste management and disposal programs and maintains records.
  • Supports hazardous waste disposal and chemical hygiene programs.
  • Supports SDS record keeping and distribution.
  • Ensures compliance with ADA, health, and fire codes.
  • Consults with local building inspectors, state and federal Department of Industry Labor and Human Relations (DILHR), Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), DSPS, and DPI inspectors.
  • Works with fire inspectors and various agencies to identify and correct safety violations.
  • Coordinates contracts, training, inspections, records, and maintenance for therapy swings, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, kitchen fume hoods, paint booths, fire doors, art kilns, and chemical fume hoods.
