Job SummaryAs a Security Officer at Banner North Colorado Medical Center, you will respond to emergency situations, assist in ensuring patient and visitor safety and security, patrol service areas including the grounds, and provide alarm monitoring and response. This full‑time position floats to Banner Fort Collins Medical Center and North Colorado Medical Center. Hours are Wednesday Noon – 1800 and Thursday – Saturday 0600 – 1800.
The role includes a $5/hour night shift differential for minimum 2 hours during the 7 pm–7 am window.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented in all contacts with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Respond to all emergency codes, patrol and inspect facilities frequently to maintain a safer environment, mediate disputes, conduct interviews, enforce parking regulations, and serve as a security subject matter expert.
- Assist medical staff in restraining and handling troubled/combative patients and conduct money pick‑ups, log pick‑ups, and deliver contents to appropriate departments.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, perform “citizen arrest,” and demonstrate critical thinking during stressful situations.
- Use assigned non‑lethal weapons according to policy and training.
- Investigate and complete reports of complaints, critical incidents, and unusual activities; maintain accurate logs.
- Testify professionally in criminal court, state hearings, and review boards when required.
- Assist in maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents, including scanning into electronic patient health information systems.
- Report directly to the Security Supervisor or OIC; provide guidance during emergencies and proactively identify, deter, and respond to incidents.
- Maintain required security certifications and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Observe good independent judgment, write comprehensive security reports, and complete all required departmental training, including the Basic Officer Academy.
- Present a professional appearance and strong verbal communication skills.
- Qualify and maintain proficiency with assigned non‑lethal weapons.
- Demonstrate the physical requirements of the position (20 squat thrusts and two flights of stairs in 2 minutes); assessment schedule as specified.
- Possess a Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it;
Behavioral Health Hospital employees must sign a Criminal History Affidavit.
Prior law enforcement, military, corrections, healthcare, or advanced security experience.
