Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled work in a variety of areas to maintain and repair school facilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Performs skilled or semi-skilled painting, carpentry, hardware installation, flooring work, electrical work, mechanical work, plumbing, HVAC, and preventative maintenance
* Assists in ordering and picking up supplies and tools for maintenance projects
* Assists with scheduling and supervising contractors engaged in building and grounds upkeep and repair
* Light janitorial work as needed, to include emergency janitorial situations before custodial staff arrive
* Groundskeeping, to include mowing, trimming, planting, snow removal, and hauling debris/trash
* Drive a district vehicle to various worksites
* Follow all safety protocols and procedures when performing duties
* Shipping and receiving deliveries
* Work collaboratively with other department staff, school administrators and staff members to meet the needs of the district
* Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records
* Appropriately test and operate all equipment and machinery as necessary
* Prioritize work and schedule work; meet schedules and timelines
* Ability to initiate and complete work orders, including notes in the descriptions for every work order
* Ability to operate small equipment such as bobcats, mowers, lifts, cleaning equipment, etc.
* On-call for emergencies and alarms
* Any and all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
* High School Diploma or equivalent is required
* Previous maintenance or trade experience required (formal education or training can substitute for experience)
* Ability to communicate with others both verbally and in writing
* Criminal background check
* Valid Colorado Driver's license and ability to meet district insurability standards strongly preferred
* Ability to work outside of normal hours in emergencies (i.e. power outages, snow removal, alarms)
* Self-motivated, team player
Salary and Benefits :
The starting salary range for this position is $20.50-$21.50 per hour depending on relevant education/training/ experience. Please see the Classified Salary Schedule on the district website, weldre

The district provides a PERA retirement plan, long-term disability, an optional supplemental 401(k) plan, and the ability to enroll in supplemental insurances and savings accounts through a third-party vendor. Weld RE-9 offers sick leave and personal leave. This position receives 10 days of vacation time per year after the first year of employment, and 15 days per year after 10 years of employment.
Maintenance staff receive free cafeteria meals.
