Part-Time Teacher Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY
Supports teachers and facilitates learning for students in a dual language, Spanish-English school with a primary focus on supporting the linguistic and literacy needs of second language learners. Supervises student conduct, instructs individual or small groups of students, supports school-wide assessment. This is a part time position with a minimum of 2 hours at SDSA per day and can be select days depending on the student schedule.
Ideally each position hire would work at least 2 days per week for at least 2 hours per day however some flexibility may exist.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a student in good standing pursuing the career of education
- Completed at least 48 Credit Hours OR
- Receive acceptable scores from ACT
- Work Keys
- Strong organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the needs of students requiring remedial reading instruction
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, students, parents
- Ability to take guidance and support teachers as needed in the classroom
- Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce instructional material planned
- Supports individual student's access to the curriculum (note taking, reading, assistive technology, etc.)
- Administers and supports assignments as assigned
- Monitors students and supports positive behavior
- Assists with lesson plans as needed by teacher
- Maintain communication with classroom teachers regarding student progress
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 18.00 per hour
