Job DescriptionSummary / Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.
Essential Job Functions- Support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups with identified significant needs.
- Provide student-specific personal care and support.
- Assist with daily classroom activities, data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and support staff as needed.
- Able to sit for long periods with attention to distractions; maintain visual and auditory awareness as required.
- Move quickly between positions to respond to student needs; demonstrate upper body strength to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Applicant must have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the function of the position. Ability to provide student-specific personal care for students. Prior experience in a school setting or with children with special needs preferred. Strong verbal communication skills; ability to work in a team setting with a positive attitude; required upper body strength to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Paraprofessional experience preferred. Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
