Salary: Placement on the Certified Salary schedule; dependent on education and/or work experience, up to ten (10) years.

Job Description

Summary / Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth.

Essential Functions
  • Plan a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to student maturity.
  • Maintain discipline and classroom control fostering a safe, positive environment for students and staff.
  • Ensure adequate supervision to safeguard student health, welfare, and safety.
  • Guide learning toward curriculum standards, set clear objectives, and communicate them to students.
  • Use instructional methods and materials that best meet objectives and standards.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.
  • Diagnose learning abilities and seek assistance from district specialists when needed.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
  • Assist administration in implementing student life and conduct policies; develop classroom behavior rules.
  • Plan and supervise instructional assistant/volunteer assignments; collaborate with department heads.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Employ varied instructional techniques and media to meet diverse student needs.
  • Implement district philosophy, instructional standards, and objectives.
  • Respect student personal space throughout the day.
  • Implement IEP plans while preserving academic time and motivating participation.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records as required by law and policy.
  • Provide availability to students and parents for education-related matters outside instructional time when necessary.
  • Cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals and methods.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Accept co‑curricular activity responsibilities as assigned.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline issues promptly.
  • Model non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Comply with school and division regulations and policies.
  • Maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by administrators.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
