Summary:
The Severe Support Needs teacher is responsible for instructing students with severe needs in grades K-12, depending on the school year. They create lesson plans and a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program.
Primary Responsibilities:
Plan and provide high quality instruction
Assist in the development of, and implementation of, student IEPsImplement curriculum and instructions that align to the Colorado Academic Standards Monitor and evaluate student progress
Prepare educational records and reports
Analyze student data and differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs
Conduct classroom and standardized assessments to measure student growth
Teach extended learning opportunity mini-courses
Provide individualized instruction for students
Work cooperatively and effectively with general education teachers
Effectively communicate with parents
Any and all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree with a teaching certification is preferred, but not required
* Teachers licensed in other areas who are willing to pursue a special education endorsement are encouraged to apply
* Endorsement, certification, degree, passing PRAXIS score, or being highly qualified in area of instruction is preferred, but not required
* Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a Colorado Teaching License. The Weld Re-9 School District considers candidates pursuing alternative pathways to the classroom
* Candidates must be knowledgeable in the field of instructional technology
The Weld Re-9 School District is willing to work with candidates to provide alternative pathways to the classroom including alternative teacher licensure programs (bachelors degree in any field required), and emergency or teacher of record authorizations (for individuals currently enrolled in a teacher preparation program). Salary and Benefits :
Salary range is $49,250-$64,750 per year as of the time of this posting depending on education, years of teaching experience, and professional development credits. The salary schedule will be updated in late spring. See the Licensed Salary Schedule under the Employment Opportunities tab. The district provides health insurance benefits including dental and vision, PERA retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability, an optional supplemental 401(k) plan, an employee assistance plan, a tuition reimbursement program, and the ability to enroll in supplemental insurances and savings accounts through a third-party vendor.
