Shine on as a climate manager Overview

The School Climate Manager is responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment that supports student well-being, academic success, and social-emotional development. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to improve school culture, address behavioral concerns, promote equity and inclusion, and engage students, staff, and families in creating a supportive learning community.

Responsibilities

School Climate and Culture Development:

  • Lead efforts to assess and improve school climate through surveys, focus groups, and data analysis.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote a positive school culture, student engagement, and staff morale.
  • Ensure that school policies and practices align with restorative justice principles, trauma-informed approaches, and social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices into school culture.

Behavioral Support and Intervention:

  • Establish and oversee a proactive, data-driven approach to behavior management that reduces suspensions, expulsions, and disciplinary referrals.
  • Support teachers in implementing positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) and restorative justice practices.
  • Provide conflict resolution training and mediation for students and staff.
  • Develop school-wide initiatives to prevent bullying, harassment, and discrimination.

Student and Family Engagement:

  • Serve as a liaison between the school and families to address concerns related to school climate and student well-being.
  • Develop workshops, events, and communication strategies to enhance parent and community engagement.
  • Partner with student leadership groups to amplify student voice in shaping school culture.

Professional Development and Training:

  • Design and facilitate professional development for teachers and staff on SEL, trauma-informed practices, culturally responsive teaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Support staff in creating inclusive, engaging classrooms that reflect students' diverse identities and experiences.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze school climate data, discipline trends, and student engagement metrics to guide decision-making.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for school leadership and stakeholders on climate-related initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal policies regarding school climate, discipline, and student rights.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Worked with kids for 2+ years
Posted Salary Range

USD $56,000.00 - USD $65,000.00 /Yr.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often requiring the handling of up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Skill in managing fine motor tasks, such as helping students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
  • Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Capacity to notice and respond to non-verbal cues from students
  • Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotional demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being
