Position OverviewThe Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Community Relations will join the University Advancement leadership team, reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement. The AVP will lead and innovate across alumni relations, annual giving, career services, events, and outreach to support UNC’s mission and community engagement.
Responsibilities- Build and engage a network of alumni and friends, supporting students through alumni‑led outreach and volunteer efforts.
- Enhance alumni and community relationships, facilitate student‑alumni career connections, provide alumni career services, and coordinate outreach for academic colleges and student affairs programs.
- Oversee an omni‑channel, pipeline‑driven annual giving program focused on collaborative engagement, donor retention, and growth of the major‑gift team.
- Manage the University Events team, including Commencement, Homecoming, the Honored Alumni Awards, and other alumni, donor, and community events.
- Integrate the Center for Career Readiness into the University Advancement division, advancing career pathways and alumni outcomes.
- Shape and strengthen an integrated advancement team through strategic vision and operational leadership.
- Experience and familiarity within alumni and community relations, demonstrating results in engagement, fundraising, and network building.
- Creative, inspiring, and energetic leadership with a track record of influencing and motivating teams.
- A deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with proven DEI outcomes in resource allocation, mentorship, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong strategic vision, operational management skills, and the ability to collaborate cross newborn across the university.
Compensation Range: $150,000 - $165,000
