Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Greeley, Colorado. This Contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a non-profit organization by managing essential financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting practices and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring accuracy in account reconciliations.

- Support month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.

- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently.

- Maintain and update the general ledger to reflect current and accurate financial data.

- Conduct variance analyses and investigate discrepancies in accounts.

- Collaborate on statutory reporting, audits, and compliance-related tasks.

- Provide support for payroll management and handle ad hoc accounting projects as needed.

- Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Requirements - Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

- Proficiency in accounting software such as Quick Books, Microsoft D365, Oracle Net Suite, Power BI, or Workday.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

- Experience with corporate tax, including corporate tax returns and sales tax.

- Solid knowledge of journal entries and general ledger maintenance.

- Familiarity with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

- Strong analytical skills to perform variance analysis and resolve discrepancies.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively.
