Essential Job Functions
  • The Problem-Solving Courts (PSC) Case Manager is responsible for facilitating and monitoring program participant involvement and completion of ancillary service components of the mental health court program for Prince George's County District Court.
  • Provide required oversight including acquisition of and facilitating access to resources such as health, legal, family services, behavioral services, and non-clinical services as needed by the participants. The position facilitates access to and monitors progression in behavior, attendance, skills learned, compliance, and implementation of the services and skills learned.
  • Manage a caseload of 50 clients, including developing case plans, monitoring progress, maintaining case notes, and reporting to court.
  • Facilitate access to services for clients, monitor progress, establish new contacts, develop community partnerships, evaluate new resources for clients, and assess program and participant needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of fieldwork or case management experience in areas such as mental health, homelessness, addictions, human/family services, health services, public safety, law enforcement or court management.
  • OR
  • Education: Associate Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of fieldwork or case management experience in the same areas as above.
  • Note: This position will not act in a clinical capacity and supervision hours will not be offered if applicant requires clinical licensing hours. Licenses and Certificates are not a requirement for employment.

  • Clinical and/or criminal justice case management.
  • General provisions affiliated with mental health services.

  • Make professional choices related to all participant activities that do not compromise the participant, their families, the court, the case, or PSC partners.
  • Assimilate within the court process; adhere to established protocols, manage deadlines, provide a high level of customer service, and disseminate information accurately and appropriately to program participants and the public.
  • Exercise a high degree of confidentiality, judgment, tact, diplomacy, and competence when dealing with Judges, attorneys, court personnel, service providers, the public, and program participants.
  • Take direction, work independently, and develop community partners to promote the program.
  • Learn data input into assigned management information systems.
  • Multi-task and manage program activity and change.
  • Think critically about the population and use program data and research to address service trends and needs.
  • Complete legal and field research and maintain an updated understanding of Problem-Solving Courts, behavior, and best practices.
  • Develop partnerships with knowledge of clinical and criminal justice services.
  • Communicate effectively to facilitate meetings and presentations.
Physical Requirements

Perform all essential functions of the position. Sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

  • Microsoft Office Suite to complete everyday tasks.
  • Outlook for court and program communication with the public and private sector.
  • SMART for PSC statistical reports on a quarterly and annual basis.
