Building Facilities Technician - Upper Marlboro Distribution Center

Current Available Shift: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM

The facilities base building technician will lead and support building inspection and maintenance processes and repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing equipment and systems in the facilities. This role will perform inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc.

• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
• Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
• Ensure that work performed is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption of building services.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and support after‑hours building related activity as requested.
• Manage installations of new and/or replacement equipment as required.
• Perform and/or delegate preventative maintenance tasks to the appropriately qualified maintenance staff member; partner with and accompany outside vendors performing work in the assigned building.
• Order parts and equipment required for repair, maintenance and installation of new equipment and facilities, and maintain inventory.
• Safely operate equipment: forklifts, scissor and boom lifts, hand tools.
• Create and close out work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used.
• Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Recommend and estimate facilities repairs and improvements for inclusion in the annual budget.
• Prepare and submit purchase order requests, develop sources for stock materials, and perform periodic checks for supplies.
• Move up to 49 lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Minimum of five years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
• Special knowledge and skills—experience with HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation.
• Strong knowledge of building automation systems is preferred.
• EPA 608 Universal Technician Certification.
• Ability to troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Completion of an applicable technical training program is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of power tools, pneumatic, or hydraulic tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of control systems & PLC’s (preferred).
• Candidate must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and internet usage and navigation.

Pay range: $27.75 - $44.25 hourly, with potential eligibility for performance‑based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401(k), medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, holidays, and more.
