Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Laborer to join our mechanical contracting team. This role supports skilled tradespeople in the field or fabrication shop by performing general labor tasks including material handling, equipment setup, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is physically capable, safety-conscious, and eager to grow in the mechanical trades.
Responsibilities- Assist pipe fitters, welders, and other trades with daily tasks.
- Load and unload materials and tools at job sites or within the fabrication shop.
- Operate basic hand and power tools (e.g., grinders, drills, saws).
- Prepare and stage materials for fabrication or field installation.
- Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Assist in rigging, lifting, and positioning heavy materials and components.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Support inventory control and material organization.
- Perform general shop duties, including cutting, grinding, or prepping pipe or sheet metal (if applicable).
- Attend safety meetings and job briefings as required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, fabrication, or mechanical trades is a plus.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and follow instructions and safety guidelines.
- Valid driver s license and reliable transportation (for field roles).
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and skilled tradespeople.
- Forklift or crane operation experience.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Familiarity with pipe systems, HVAC, or plumbing components.
- Ability to read basic blueprints or shop drawings.
- Field work may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction sites, heights, and confined spaces.
- Shop work is typically indoors but may involve noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required and provided.
