Assistant Project Manager - Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role works closely with Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients to help ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with quality and safety expectations.

Key Responsibilities Project Coordination
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules, tracking milestones and deadlines.
  • Support the preparation of project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain smooth project flow.
Cost & Document Management
  • Help manage project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting activities.
  • Review invoices, proposals, and change order requests for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure timely distribution of documents.
Site & Stakeholder Support
  • Attend site meetings and assist with follow-up actions.
  • Monitor project progress and help resolve issues impacting schedule or quality.
  • Liaise with clients, field personnel, and subcontractors to support day-to-day operations.
Quality & Safety
  • Assist in implementing safety protocols and ensuring documentation is up to date.
  • Participate in project inspections and quality control checks.
  • Support the preparation of closeout documents including O&M manuals and punch lists.
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of construction project support experience, ideally in mechanical, electrical, or general contracting environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and solve problems proactively.
