Home Innovation is searching for a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Sr. Staff Accountant to join our team! Reporting to the Controller, the Sr. Staff Accountant plays a key role in contributing to the accuracy and transparency of Home Innovation’s financial records. The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the operational and fiscal activities of the accounting department, including accounting transaction processing and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal and state regulations.
In addition, the Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation of payroll, including preparing the required payroll tax filings and other payroll reporting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Account Reconciliation - Maintain financial records and ensure financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
- Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable – Work with the Controller and the other accounting team members to maintain timely payments to vendors and employees in the most efficient manner. Work with the Controller and the other accounting team members to ensure timely payment from customers in the most efficient manner.
- Bank Reconciliation – Compare bank statements to financial records and identify and resolve bank data discrepancies. Prepare bank reconciliation reports.
- Financial Analysis – perform as-needed analysis as requested by Controller and/or CFO using existing data.
- Payroll Processing/Reporting – Accurately prepare, document, distribute, and reconcile payroll. Review the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of city, state, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understand and follow applicable provisions. Prepare required tax filings and other reporting.
- Knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and meet deadlines
- Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably with a focus on financial reporting
- Full proficiency in the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation of payroll.
- Requires a BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
- Five years prior experience in the accounting/financial reporting field preferred
