Grocery Clerk – Smith's Food & Drug Centers

• Assist customers in discovering and selecting grocery items.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend products.
• Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, inventory, and restock department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that encourages customer return.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations, temperature logs, and safety procedures.
• Identify and notify management of unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment needs.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Follow directions, seek assistance when necessary, and resolve customer and business issues.

• Customer service skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Retail experience (desired).
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational cooperative manner.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
