Overview
Rehabilitation Counselor 2 - Behavioral Health Specialist (41019) within the Disability Employment and Transitions Division at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). This position provides guidance and counseling to individuals experiencing significant mental/behavioral health disabilities in achieving competitive integrated employment outcomes. Responsibilities include developing individual rehabilitation plans, counseling consumers on job and career development goals, providing on-site job coaching or assistive devices, approving, purchasing, and monitoring the quality of goods and services, and consulting and coaching Workforce partners, community rehabilitation providers, businesses, and other stakeholders on serving individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities- Develop individual rehabilitation plans.
- Counsel consumers on job and career development goals.
- Provide on-site job coaching or assistive devices.
- Approve, purchase, and monitor the quality of goods and services.
- Consult and coach Workforce partners, community rehabilitation providers, businesses, and other stakeholders on serving individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of psychosocial assessment and vocational rehabilitation counseling.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and disability rights, culture, and history.
- Ability to be flexible and balance literal adherence to rules with the use of policies as a guide.
- Skill in working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to interpret and use medical and psychological information to make sound decisions.
- Ability to be proactive, organized, and manage caseloads.
- Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field with coursework eligible to sit for certification.
- Two years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, career counseling, human services, or human resources.
- Certification by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) is highly preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.
