Miscellaneous/PERSONNEL TECHNICIAN (SUBSTITUTE CLERK) - Employment Days: 40 hrs/week; 218 Days – Summer work as needed
- Starting Time: 6:00 A.M.
- Salary: $16.46 per hour
Summary: The Person nel Technician is responsible for ensuring proper and efficient placement of substitutes for certified staff, as well as performing a variety of clerical duties.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to take and follow directions easily
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years prior experience in secretarial/clerical office environment
- Exceptional computer skills with specific knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly learn the Human Resources Management system and the Aesop online substitute teacher placement system
- Must be bondable for notary
Essential Functions:
- Complete tasks under pressure of deadlines and multi-task with various pressing duties
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills; use telephone professionally and courteously for extended periods
- Timely and accurately file and organize employee personnel files
- Complete background checks and take notes for HR meetings, negotiations, etc.
- Complete detailed and complex assignments, organize and prioritize projects with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate discretion, tact, and confidentiality in stressful situations
- Effectively communicate with all GFPS employees to ensure appropriate placement of substitute teachers and para educators
- Maintain substitute teacher database and master calendar of teacher absences to avoid uncovered classrooms
- Coordinate and conduct interviews of substitute teachers and crossing guards; hiring decisions made in conjunction with HR Director
- Coordinate quarterly and yearly trainings for subs and crossing guards
- Compile and maintain monthly reporting on teacher absences with prior year data comparisons, maintain accurate payroll reports weekly
- Telephone placement of substitute teachers, para educators, and sub crossing guards for all GFPS
- Maintain confidential employee personnel files for substitutes
- Appropriately handle employee relations matters
- Other personnel/secretarial/clerical duties as assigned
- Assist in operation and maintenance of the automated sub-calling system
- Track, troubleshoot and work independently
Physical Demands:
- Kneeling, bending, walking, picking, pinching, typing, talking, hearing, repetitive motion, lifting up to 10 lbs occasionally
- Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing data, transcribing, reading, inspection, using measurement devices
- Sedentary work most of the time
