Commercial & Industrial Electrical Estimator

A well-established Mechanical & Electrical contractor based in Essex is seeking an experienced Commercial & Industrial Electrical Estimator to join their expanding team. With over 30 years of expertise delivering high-quality M&E solutions across London and the South East, the company continues to grow and is now looking to strengthen its commercial function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and commercially aware Estimator to join a stable, reputable business with a strong pipeline of work and long-term career prospects.

Role & Responsibilities

* Prepare accurate and competitive tenders for commercial and industrial electrical projects from initial enquiry through to final submission.

* Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to fully understand project scope and requirements.

* Produce detailed take-offs and cost plans for labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages.

* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and ensure best value pricing.

* Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for compliance and commercial suitability.

* Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide professional advice on electrical systems and cost-effective solutions.

* Assist with value engineering and alternative solutions where required.

* Maintain organised tender files and ensure clear audit trails for all estimates.

* Support the commercial and operations teams with handover information following successful tenders.

* Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems.

Mechanical estimating experience is preferred but not essential.

Candidate Requirements

* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in estimating and tendering within the commercial or industrial electrical sector.

* Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction methods.

* Mechanical estimating experience preferred.

* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

* High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and estimating software.

* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure.

* Confident communicator able to liaise with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

* Diploma of Higher Education (or equivalent) in a construction or engineering-related discipline (required).

* Self-motivated, proactive and able to hit the ground running.

Salary & Benefits

* Competitive salary of £50,000 – £75,000 per annum, depending on experience
