Job Title:
Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (LDR) | Night Shift (Travel Contract)

Job Summary

• The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery for a 13-week night shift contract.
• The RN will provide comprehensive obstetric care in a rural hospital setting, ensuring high-quality care for laboring mothers, newborns, and associated patient populations.
• The role requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to float to Medical-Surgical units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to labor, postpartum, and newborn patients
• Monitor fetal heart tracings and respond appropriately to changes in maternal or fetal status
• Assist with labor management, deliveries, and post-delivery recovery
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
• Float to Medical-Surgical units as required for overflow patients
• Provide care for pediatric patients when needed
• Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control practices

Required Qualifications

• Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Licensure:
  • Active Kansas RN License
• Certifications (Required):
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS (must be fully committed to obtaining prior to start)
  • NRP
• Education:
  • Must have completed a fetal monitoring course (intermediate or advanced) within the past 24 months

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of LDR experience in a rural hospital setting
• Prior travel nursing experience
• EPIC EMR experience

Shift & Schedule

• Shift: Night Shift
• Hours: 12-hour shifts
• Shift Time: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Weekend Requirement:
  Every other weekend required
• On-Call Requirement: 2–3 on-call shifts per month
• Holiday Requirement:
  Holidays required in rotation

Floating & Staffing Requirements

• Floating to Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed
• May be required to care for pediatric patients
• In cases of low census, RN may be placed on on-call status and compensated at the on-call rate
