First Grade Teacher Berkshires

Opening Statement

Berkshire Waldorf School is seeking a full time First Grade class teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Ideally, candidates would have Waldorf teaching experience. Effective classroom management, communication, and the ability to collaborate are priorities. Classroom support and mentoring will be provided.

Now celebrating 54 years of Waldorf education in the Berkshires, Berkshire Waldorf School provides a lively and imaginative, experiential education for toddlers through teens. Alongside our sibling school, Berkshire Waldorf High School, we partner with families from Berkshire, Columbia and northern Litchfield Counties to grow our students’ unlimited potential.

• Teach a class of 12-15 1st grade students.
• Lead the first grade curriculum in accordance with Waldorf Standards.
• Prepare lesson plans, student work, assessments, and reports according to BWS standards.
• Cultivate joy, wonder, and curiosity in the classroom, fostering a positive relationship to learning.

• Bachelors Degree
• Waldorf Teacher Certificate and/or enrollment in a Waldorf accredited training program
• Minimum of three years paid experience in an accredited primary school, preferred

Salary: This position has a base salary of $45,000 with increases dependent on experience.
