Tooling Technician - CNC Programmer/Solidworks Design

Responsibilities

CNC Programming

• Select proper cutting tools for specific machine operations and materials.
• Identify and resolve errors during machining and adjust program parameters as needed to correct deviations.
• Implement efficient cutting paths to minimize machining time while maintaining quality, considering factors like material removal rates and tool wear.
• Track and document machining processes for production.
• Create setup sheets and tool lists.

Die Cast/ Plastic lnjection Tooling

• Work with design engineers to discuss mold design considerations, potential manufacturing challenges, and necessary modifications.

Required Qualifications

CNC Programming

• Thorough understanding of CNC machine operations, including different axes, and machining techniques
• Expertise in programs like Solid Works and Mastercam to design and generate CNC programs, fixtures, and prototypes using blueprints and solid models
• Hands-on approach, willing to setup and run machines when needed
• Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others
• Familiarity with Haas and DMG Mori Seiki mills and lathes is a plus

Die Cast/ Plastic lnjection Tooling

• Understanding of tool steels is a plus - A2, D2, H13, S7, P20, 4140, 01, etc.
• Knowledge of die casting principles and plastic injection molding principles, including material flow, cooling methods, gates, venting, and potential defects is a plus
