Job Summary

The EMS Instructor is a part‑time position located through the CLC Campus in Grayslake, IL, teaching in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Under the direction of the EMS Program Director, the instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering didactic and laboratory education that aligns with the NHTSA, IDPH, and National Standards curriculum.

Job Description
  • Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to CLC as a learning‑centered college through the mission, vision, values, core skills, learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the EMS education program.
  • Maintain regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums from draft or verbal instructions; prepare copies of documents and distribute information.
  • Update and maintain files as requested by directors; assist with forms and collection of data as requested.
  • Demonstrate high‑level professionalism.
  • Participate in institutional, advisory, program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community.
  • Participate in program reviews.
  • Continue professional development to improve self and the program to meet the needs of a learning‑centered college.
  • Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position.
  • Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning‑centered college.
  • Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the EMS Program Director.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in EMS.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications.
  • Current IL or NREMT, EMT or Paramedic credential, Nursing credential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Five or more years of work experience in EMS.
  • Evidence of being detail‑oriented.
  • Evidence of effective problem‑solving, critical thinking, and decision‑making skills.
  • Evidence of a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi‑tasking, and handling high‑pressure environments.
  • Evidence of willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
  • Current certifications of CPR, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS/PHTLS Instructor.
  • Certification as an EMT or Paramedic Level I or II Instructor.
  • Experience teaching at the community college level.
