Job SummaryThe College of Lake County is looking for an Adjunct Faculty, Business to join the team. The Adjunct Faculty will teach classes in Human Resources. The faculty member will be responsible for developing instructional materials including course plans, syllabi, objectives, and evaluation tools. Adjunct Faculty members are expected to maintain compliance training, including Title IX (Responsible Employee) and, if applicable, the Clery Act Campus Security Authority requirements.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in the subject field (Human Resources) as scheduled each academic semester.
- Develop instructional materials including course plans, syllabi, objectives, and evaluation tools; select, prepare and maintain current curriculum, course outlines, and instructional materials.
- Assess student learning and assign grades; provide timely feedback on student progress; submit grades electronically by required deadlines; provide appropriate grade records to the Registrar.
- Attend required adjunct meetings in Fall and Spring semesters; participate in college governance and other aspects of academic life.
- Maintain current knowledge of subject matter and comply with college policies; observe and evaluate student performance to meet course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Provide instructional support to students; refer students to College resources when appropriate; be available for student consultation by phone or email.
- Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles; observe and evaluate student performance; use feedback to improve course delivery.
- Maintain office/discipline/grade/division records as required; use policies and procedures to resolve and document student complaints or problems.
- Develop and administer discipline-appropriate measures of student achievement; administer instruments designed to measure student learning outcomes as requested by the department.
- Conform to established syllabus and approved textbooks/materials; ensure classes meet scheduled times; provide syllabus with course objectives and learning outcomes, attendance policies, texts/readings, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
- Encourage course evaluations and use feedback to improve delivery; revise and update course content as needed.
- Participate in program advisory boards, college/division/department committees when appropriate; maintain a high level of professional ethics.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean; classes may be scheduled at multiple campuses or online.
Required
- A Master’s Degree in a business subject area (excluding Business Education).
- Experience or education in the Human Resources field.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Competency in technologies commonly used in college-level instruction.
Desired
- Prior college-level teaching experience in human resources and/or business.
- Demonstrated professional learning or certification in evidence-based student-focused pedagogical teaching and assessment (e.g., ACUE, workshops, data use).
- Two years of relevant business experience.
Per Load Hour Compensation
Schedule:
- $1,323; - $1,373; - $1,414.
