Position: Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer  2026

About The Role

We are Balfour Beatty, you may not know us by name but you definitely will have seen what we do. We are one of the UKs largest construction companies building iconic buildings and structures that will last for generations to come.

Would you prefer to learn by doing with a support network around you and access to a development programme that will give you the skills and confidence to become anything you want to be, all whilst taking home a salary?

If you would like to leave your own legacy and say to your family and friends, “I helped build that” then #BEBalfour

Beatty and we can build the future together.

What you'll be doing

As a Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer, you'll help turn ideas on paper into real‑life structures. Think of it as learning how to build the things people use every day from pathways and drainage systems to big structures like bridges and foundations. You'll split your time between being out on site, seeing construction happen up close, and being in the office, learning how engineers plan, measure, and solve problems.

You'll pick up skills in how to check that work is safe, accurate, and built to the right standards, while gaining hands‑on experience with tools, drawings, and real engineering challenges. It's a great way to earn a degree while learning how the world around you is designed and built.

You will be enrolled on the Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, a structured programme lasting approximately 5 years.

Who we're looking for

For our Level 6 (Degree) Apprenticeship, you'll need 3 A Levels or equivalent to 112 UCAS points at passing grades ideally in STEM related subjects. This programme combines advanced academic study with full‑time work, offering you the opportunity to develop both professionally and academically.

Why work for us

Kickstart your career at Balfour Beatty, where you'll receive structured training and support from day one, and a formal qualification. Alongside a great salary and benefits package, you'll gain invaluable experience and skills that pave the way for exciting opportunities and career progression. This is more than just a job – it’s a pathway to a promising future.
