Dissertation Supervisor - Business & Tourism

GEDU Global Education is seeking a Dissertation Supervisor to support the research project module within the Business & Tourism discipline.

Overview

Role:
Dissertation Supervisor - Business & Tourism.

Location:

on-site in London (West and East), Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds. Department:
Academic/Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) partnership. Salary: £250 per student (includes supervisory time, formative feedback, first and second marking, and ad-hoc meetings). You will be allocated up to 20 project students and provide 10 hours of supervision plus marking time per student supervised.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Academic Supervision:
    Help students define and refine research questions and objectives; advise on research methodologies and ethical considerations; guide literature reviews and sourcing materials; provide structured feedback on dissertation drafts and monitor progress; ensure dissertations meet required academic, institutional and PSRB standards.
  • Student Support:
    Maintain regular contact with assigned students through scheduled supervision meetings; encourage independent thinking and scholarly development; identify and address academic or personal challenges; promote inclusive and supportive learning environments.
About You
  • Qualified to at least a Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in academic research and dissertation supervision.
  • Experience of working in Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies; knowledge of statistical programs and secondary data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of research ethics, methodologies, and academic writing conventions.
  • Understanding of and passion for both higher education and working with a diverse student body, especially mature students from widening participation backgrounds.
  • Willing to work occasional weekends and evenings; travel to various campuses as required.
  • Good IT skills working with Microsoft packages.
Desirable
  • External examiner experience.
