Locum Consultant – General Surgery

DURATION: 1 YEAR POST

The Surgical Unit at NHS Grampian, Dr Gray’s Hospital, wishes to recruit one Locum Consultant General Surgeon to join a team of two Consultant General Surgeons and two Specialist Doctors. This is a full‑time position (10 PA’s).

Dr Gray’s Hospital is situated in Elgin, the county town of Moray. The surrounding area is considered to be of outstanding natural beauty. This post offers a unique opportunity to practice surgery in an area with a high quality of life, excellent schools, affordable housing and superb recreational facilities.

The hospital serves a population of about 132,000 and provides emergency and elective general surgical services within the hospital and at selected community hospitals. There are good links with Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a tertiary referral and major trauma centre. Supporting staff include two Specialist Trainees, one Core Trainee and four Foundation Doctors. The hospital enjoys a strong association with the University of Aberdeen and hosts 4th and 5th year medical students.

Qualifications & Experience

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (licence must be in place prior to starting in post).
• Broad experience in elective and emergency general surgery, including some paediatrics and urology.
