Are you an experienced Environmental professional looking to take ownership of environmental delivery on major energy infrastructure projects? Do you want to join one of the UK's largest principal contractors, working on complex, high-impact projects across transport, energy, and utilities? If so, you may be interested in the Environmental Manager role I'm recruiting for.
This newly created position sits within a highly successful infrastructure contractor with a turnover of over £1 billion and a strong track record in delivering major construction and energy projects. With continued rapid growth, the role will focus on high-profile energy infrastructure developments across the South East, playing a key role in managing environmental risk on large and complex schemes, including overhead lines, cabling, and substations in ecologically sensitive areas.
Responsibilities- Provide practical environmental guidance across live construction sites, managing permits, consents, surveys, and mitigation measures to ensure compliance and minimise risk.
- Lead site inspections, audits, and investigations, addressing findings and embedding improvements.
- Support and enhance the Integrated Management System, maintaining ISO 14001 compliance and promoting high environmental standards with project teams, clients, and partners.
- Contribute to pre-construction and work-winning activities, monitor environmental performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant environmental or technical field.
- Member of IEMA (PIEMA), ideally actively working toward Chartered status, and recognised internal auditing qualifications.
- Strong understanding of ISO
14001 Environmental Management Systems and practical implementation experience. - Proven ability to work effectively within teams, manage multiple tasks, and influence stakeholders.
