Responsibilities
- Work safely, flexibly at all times.
- Be available for morning and afternoon shifts on all school days (term‑time only).
- Commit to a long‑term, part‑time position.
- Monitor pupils’ behaviour during transport to ensure a safe environment.
- Ensure seat belts and harnesses are worn correctly by all passengers.
- Be aware of each child’s specific needs, including medical, physical, or behavioural requirements.
- Administer basic first aid or medication if trained and authorised.
- Liaise with parents and carers to receive and share relevant updates as needed.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or concerns promptly to the appropriate person.
- Adhere to all KCC safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Wear your KCC identification badge at all times while on duty.
- Keep up to date with required training and complete refresher sessions as needed.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Must reside in Kent.
- Enhanced DBS check required; completed by our company.
- Willingness to complete a Passenger Assistant Course (held in Aylesford, Kent from 9am‑3pm). First Aid and Safeguarding training will also be provided.
- Availability for a September start date.
- Good command of the English language, with clear and accurate communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Friendly, positive attitude and ability to build a good rapport with children and families.
- Patience and empathy, especially when working with children and adults with additional needs.
- Physically fit and able to assist passengers when getting in and out of the vehicle; additional training will be provided for assisting passengers with wheelchairs, epilepsy, or anaphylactic needs.
- Ability to monitor and ensure the safety and comfort of passengers at all times.
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential – full training will be provided.
- Term‑time only – work every school day.
- Part‑time hours – typically 2 to 5 hours per day (1‑2.5 hours in the morning and 1‑2.5 hours in the afternoon), averaging 10‑25 hours per week.
- Competitive pay – £30‑£50 per day, depending on route length, skills, and any additional training, with opportunities for bonuses and benefits.
- Convenient – you will be collected from your home address and dropped off after each shift.
- Associated costs – DBS application fee £61.50 + £16 yearly to register on the update service.
