• Provides leadership, direction, and technical support to all production mechanics as needed; oversees work in progress to ensure uninterrupted production flow and timely completion of equipment repairs.
• Manages equipment parts inventory by preparing comprehensive parts lists, including vendor selection and associated costs.
• Reviews and monitors preventive maintenance records to ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with established schedules.
• Stays current on new technologies and equipment utilized by Technical Support and Production Operations.
• Assumes full departmental management responsibilities in the absence of the Department Manager.
• Holds accountability for meeting or exceeding Cost Per Unit targets during assigned shifts, including labor costs, overtime, and inventory control.
• Monitors and optimizes machine performance and throughput.
• Coaches, mentors, motivates, develops, and supports technicians under direct supervision.
• Ensures all administrative documentation is accurately completed and that departmental procedures are consistently followed.
• Recognizes performance, rewards achievements, and administers corrective action when necessary.
• Maintains all personnel records for employees within the department.
• Oversees a span of control consisting of approximately 6-8 full‑time associates, 6-8 temporary employees, and all related production equipment.
• Communicates daily with senior management to provide updates on strategic scheduling and operational priorities.
• Reviews daily throughput and equipment downtime reports and provides feedback to departmental staff.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Associate’s degree or Technical/Trade School.
• 5+ years’ experience and a proven proficiency in the operation and repair of production equipment.
• A proven proficiency in the operation and repair of insertion and bindery equipment, electronic and electric circuit experience necessary.
• Electrical and electronics repair a plus.
• Knowledge, understanding and experience of reporting tools Jet/IQ.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office.
• 3 years’ min. supervisory experience in a high‑volume production environment.
• Functional/technical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to take direction and to work under pressure due to time constraints as necessary.
