Patient Coordinator

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. The role ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized, and patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collects monies for time‑of‑service patient responsibility, if applicable.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization, as needed.
• Preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
• Transports patients to/from the exam room and assists in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Provides patients with preliminary and post‑procedure instructions.
• Assists in preparing the mobile unit for transport, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and ordering supplies.
• Ensures accuracy of patient records, schedules appointments, obtains insurance verification/authentication, prepares medical records for physicians, patients and customers, documents patient visits in electronic and written systems, and assists the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
• Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• CPR Certification required prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; a plus for Fixed Radiology.
• Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
• Ability to work at multiple locations and travel locally may be required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• COVID‑19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
• Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug screen is required.

• Six months of customer service or related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bilingual in Spanish.

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients on a mobile unit, to strong magnetic fields or radioactive material, and to blood/body fluids and infectious disease, as well as environmental hazards such as noise and travel. Physical demands for more than 50% of the time include:

• Sit, stand, walk.
• Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.
• See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.

Physical demands for less than 50% of the time include:

• Stoop, kneel or crawl.
• Climb and balance.
• Carry and lift, including moving non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or exam.
