Required MaterialsIn addition to base salary, incentives available to Police Officers include:
- Associate Degree 2.5%
- Bachelor Degree 5%
- Second language 1.25%
- DPSST Intermediate Certificate 2.5%
- DPSST Advanced Certificate 4.0%
Note:
Associate Degree is not cumulative.
- Graduation from High School or GED and 1 year of work experience are required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job as listed. The Police Officer job description can be reviewed in full here.
- Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
- Meet physical standards as set by the Department of Public Safety on Standards and Training (DPSST).
- Valid driver's license, with the ability to obtain an Oregon Class C Driver's License within 30 days of employment.
- DPSST Basic Police Certificate following completion of training, within 12 months of employment.
- Law Enforcement Data System Certificate within 60 days of assignment.
Residency requirement for this position:
The residency requirement for the position is forty-five (45) minutes from City limits as it exists within the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).
Candidates hired for the position of Police Officer must pass the ORPAT (physical ability) and firearms requirements prior to graduation at the Oregon DPSST Police Academy.
Testing and SelectionNTN Written Testing Information (Submit scores by Final date to receive applications):
City of Grants Pass offers full testing services for the position of Police Officer through National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to , select Find Jobs, then select Law Enforcement Jobs and sign up for City of Grants Pass.
Complete the written test at and the online application to be considered for an interview.

- Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test.
- Review all information related to the City of Grants Pass (Police Officer), including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
- Review detailed information about the testing process.
- Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).
Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Grants Pass. City of Grants Pass will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the City of Grants Pass responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the City of Grants Pass where the final decisions are made. The ranking and selection of applicants to proceed in the process includes experience and knowledge, education, responses to supplemental questionnaire, submission of required materials and meeting minimum qualifications and special qualifications of the position.
The initial process may include oral interviews and skills testing. Final selection will require a background investigation, including a criminal history review, and, depending on the position, a psychological screening, physical, functional and drug screening.
