Position SummaryWe are seeking a proactive and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead our quality and food safety programs across our manufacturing and distribution operations. This individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining systems to ensure compliance with GFSI standards (FSSC 22000 preferred), FDA/FSMA regulations, and chemical safety requirements for both food-grade and hazardous/non-hazardous products. The QA Manager will play a critical leadership role in driving continuous improvement, managing audits, and fostering a culture of accountability and food safety across all departments.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and maintain the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS), including HACCP, GMPs, PRPs, and internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with GFSI schemes, with emphasis on FSSC 22000 programs where applicable.
- Lead regulatory compliance efforts for FDA/FSMA, 21 CFR, Haz Com, and chemical safety standards.
- Manage QA documentation, including COAs, batch records, non‑conformance reports, change control, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Support operational leadership and ensure training, competency, and accountability across production and quality departments.
- Oversee quality investigations, root cause analyses, and customer complaint resolutions.
- Support food safety risk assessments for both food‑grade and non‑food hazardous chemicals, including allergen management and cross‑contamination control.
- Coordinate and lead external audits (e.g., GFSI, customer, regulatory) and internal inspections.
- Work cross‑functionally with production, procurement, shipping, to resolve quality issues and maintain product integrity.
- Monitor and trend key performance indicators related to quality and food safety.
- Support document control, including the implementation and periodic review of SOPs, forms, and specifications.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives through lean quality and preventative programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive QA/QC experience in a food manufacturing or chemical ingredients environment.
- Strong working knowledge of GFSI standards (FSSC 22000 highly preferred).
- Hands‑on experience with hazardous and non‑hazardous chemical handling, documentation, and labeling requirements (OSHA, DOT, SDS, etc.).
- Proficient in HACCP, GMP, internal auditing, and CAPA processes.
- Demonstrated success in leading audits and managing regulatory or customer compliance programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical documentation and cross‑departmental collaboration.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- HACCP Certification or PCQI Certification (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual).
- Experience in bulk liquid receiving, blending, and packaging of oils or chemicals.
- Experience using SharePoint or other document control systems.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office‑based with regular walk‑throughs in production and warehouse environments.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and work in environments where food‑grade and chemical products are handled.
- No travel required.
