The purpose of positions in this classification is to perform clerical and recordkeeping duties related to municipal court administration.
Must work Monday evening court sessions
. The Assistant Court Clerk supports the efficient operation of the Municipal Division Court by providing clerical and administrative assistance directly to the public in a customer-facing environment. This position regularly interacts with residents, defendants, attorneys, and other stakeholders to answer inquiries, process payments, assist with court procedures, and provide information related to municipal court operations.
- Performs extensive customer service to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Receives fines and fee payments for the Municipal Division Court, answers questions from the public and other interested parties or refers to appropriate person or agency regarding Municipal Division dockets, fines, or other administrative matters.
- Enters data to computer records system regarding court information.
- Responds to record requests within State guidelines.
- Completes fingerprint cards and submits to State Authority.
- Sorts, organizes and refiles cases after court completion into corresponding case dockets.
- Manages warrant files.
- Balances daily cash payments with register.
High School Graduate or equivalent; typing at least 45 w.p.m.; accurate data entry skills; team player; strong attention to detail; strong multitasking skills; exceptional customer service, telephone, and counter skills; and the ability to work with a diverse public. Knowledge of court operations and a criminal justice or paralegal degree is a plus. Court Clerk experience will be given preference.
Physical DemandsMobility to work in a standard office environment and use standard office equipment. On an intermittent basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time; intermittently walk, stand, bend, squat, twist, and reach while performing office duties. Manual dexterity to use standard office equipment and supplies. Vision to read handwritten and printed material and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and by telephone;
ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds, such as files, manuals, or equipment.
