Delivery Driver Job Description

Latvala Lumber Company has been in the Lumber business since 1980. We serve Grand Rapids, MN and surrounding areas delivering materials in radius up to approximately 100 miles. We take pride in providing high quality Lumber and building Materials and prompt deliveries to various residential and commercial job sites. We are looking for a candidate who is a highly responsible eager team player who communicates well with coworkers, customers, management, and is someone who takes pride in all aspects of their life. They need to demonstrate a safe and professional track record while operating various forklifts and delivery trucks. We have a wide variety of delivery trucks in our fleet – we strive to keep our trucks as up to date and as well maintained as possible.

• Deliver materials in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
• Pickup returns from job sites (inquire about returns when on job sites, write up all any returns on site, give carbon copy to site contact).
• Assist in loading delivery trucks to ensure proper load balance and security.
• Truck Inspections and maintenance.
• Put away returns when available/applicable.

• Helping customers load their purchases in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
• Assist in building orders of construction materials as ordered using forklifts when not delivering materials.
• Receive material by unloading vendor trucks and verifying counts for accuracy
• Maintain a clean and safe warehouse and lumber yard.
• Perform general maintenance and small repairs on vehicles, forklifts, equipment, and buildings as needed.
• Move snow in the wintertime using a variety of equipment including shovels, snowblower, and snowplows.
• Assist with general maintenance of forklifts, equipment, and buildings.
• Restock building materials as needed.
• Backup other positions as needed and directed by Management.
• Other tasks as assigned by Management

• High School Diploma preferred, but previous work experience will suffice
• Previous experience working with construction materials preferred
• Class D Driver’s License or higher
• Clean Driving Record
• DOT Health card or ability to get within 1 month of employment (Company Provided)

• Good Customer Service Skills (On job site and in the yard)
• Proficient in reading a pick ticket to build orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner when needed.
• Technological aptitude.
• Ability to be certified in operating forklifts – certification will be provided
• Ability to adapt on the fly as needed, especially during the busier portion of the building season.

• Work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects more than 50 lbs.
• Ability to adapt between sitting frequently for varying periods of time and hauling materials of different sizes, weights, and fragility as the job demands.
