Assisted Living RN Clinical Manager: 16 hours/week
The Assisted Living (AL) Clinical Manager is accountable for the management and operation of the assisted living community and sets the tone to ensure a home-like atmosphere. The AL Clinical Manager operates in cooperation with the campus Administrator and under guidance of the VP Assisted Living Communities, ensuring quality tenant care and retention of highly trained, happy and motivated staff. The AL Clinical Manager is charged with creating, demonstrating and setting expectations for a culture of collaboration, compassion, and customer service that will strongly encourage staff to self-report areas of improvement and ensure tenant’s rights are protected.
Responsibilities include ensuring and enforcing compliance with all federal, state and local laws applicable to assisted living communities while realizing the ultimate goal of attaining and maintaining the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each tenant. The AL Clinical Manager is often directly involved in the hands-on completion of tasks, including meeting with new tenants, helping tenants obtain benefits, and planning activities, all executed with effective and efficient use of resources.
- Tenant Care and Support
- Manage and operate the community to meet individual needs and preferences (INP) of tenants; ensure tenant-centered care.
- Complete the admission process in a comprehensive, tenant-centered manner.
- Ensure service schedules are complete.
- Draft, implement and maintain plans of care for every tenant based on INP.
- Maximize quality of living through continual monitoring and recommendations for the best care environment.
- Train staff to follow state and federal guidelines related to tenant rights; address abuse, neglect and misappropriation promptly.
- Create and continually review a Quality Assurance Program Initiative focused on how staff influence tenants’ needs.
- Foster a strong culture of customer service to facilitate a tenant-centered experience.
- Regularly inform tenants and their support networks of care, condition and treatment; protect HIPAA-compliant documentation.
- Follow doctors’ orders and policies to ensure compliance; provide individualized rehabilitative services to promote independence.
- Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary environment via housekeeping, laundry and maintenance; design tenant-centered recreation and programs.
- Meet nutritional needs per INP and physician orders; coordinate services from qualified vendors as needed.
- Staff
- Foster a culture of high employee satisfaction and competence through recruitment, orientation, training and development.
- Support retention with ongoing feedback, performance appraisals, and a customer-service oriented culture.
- Implement corrective action processes when needed, including timely investigations and suspensions as appropriate.
- Encourage open communication about concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Keep staff records complete and secure; support and grow department directors and hold them accountable for their staff.
- Finance
- Track financial operations to ensure fiscal soundness and sustained success.
- Create accurate budgets based on income, expenses and capital improvements.
- Oversee billing and collections; ensure understanding of bills and timely payment.
- Educate staff on duties related to payroll, accounts receivable, billing, records, internal controls and HIPAA.
- Coordinate staff communication with Corporate Finance; approve purchases and manage the PO system.
- Monitor and communicate staff hours and overtime expectations.

- Ensure facility compliance with federal, state and local laws; maintain equipment and resources.
- Plan and validate infection control and sanitation; train staff and ensure effective communication.
- Maintain disaster preparedness with regular staff training and external agency coordination.
- Ensure environmental, housekeeping and laundry services meet legal requirements; maintain HIPAA-compliant technology safeguards.
