About Us

If you like a company that's big enough to provide stability yet small enough that you can make decisions and move fast, Engelsma Homes is the place for you. We are a custom builder that has been serving West Michigan for over 20 years. We transform lives and landscapes by creating extraordinary homes where every detail reflects our commitment to excellence, innovation, and meaningful connection.

Our office and production area are tucked back in the woods where we can be inspired by the beauty of the landscape. And our talented and dedicated team members describe our culture as driven, supportive, and rewarding. We feel the combination of great people and culture are a key factor in creating beautiful spaces our clients love.

About this role:

Do you take pride in delivering exceptional craftsmanship in every project you touch? Do you enjoy working on high-end custom homes where attention to detail and quality truly matter? If that sounds like you, you might just be the one we've been searching for. We're looking for an experienced Trim Carpenter to help move homes from the drywall and primer stage to fully prepared for final paint.

In this role, you'll install and fine-tune all interior woodwork - from trim and doors to cabinetry and stair components - ensuring everything is precise, paint-ready, and built to the highest quality standards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of exceptional homes and be a vital part of a company that values excellence and its people.

The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail, strong carpentry skill and is driven by teamwork and collaboration. In the role you will:

  • Bring your 3-5 years of finished carpentry experience to install baseboards, casing, headers, and interior doors with precision, ensuring alignment, levelness, and a flawless fit.
  • Measure, cut, and fit custom cabinetry to specifications, maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and finish.
  • Execute detailed trim work, including crown molding, wall panels, ceiling beams, and other architectural features, to enhance the design and quality of the space.
  • Install stair components, including treads, risers, skirt boards, newel posts, and railings, ensuring structural integrity and safety.
  • Perform quality inspections to verify that all woodwork meets design specifications and is ready for painting or finishing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, supporting efficient workflow and compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and other team members to ensure smooth project execution and timely completion.
  • Communicate professionally with clients on-site, providing guidance or answering questions as needed.
What you will get:
  • Opportunity to hone your carpentry skills at a top residential construction firm
  • The chance to execute creative ideas into beautiful results
  • Competitive Compensation
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance on first day of work
  • 401k with a company match
  • Paid time off
  • 7 Paid Holidays
