Job Description
This is a contract-to-direct position requiring daily reporting to the Grand Rapids office. The individual will be responsible for conducting field inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment to compile field data, prepare minor work orders, and maintain reports of distribution equipment. The role involves measuring and mapping out LVD systems, identifying and recording electrical equipment on poles, and performing various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
12 months a year / full time / overtime available if desired.
- Visually inspect overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment.
- Compile field data collection, minor work order preparation, and maintenance reports.
- Measure and map LVD systems.
- Identify and record electrical equipment on poles.
- Perform system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, lighting audits, etc.
- Collect field data using laptop computer, tablet device, GPS, and other electronic devices.
- Develop working knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and communication facilities.
- Operate equipment such as height stick and range finder to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities.
- Perform pole inspections and maintain pad-mount equipment.
- Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.
- High School Diploma required
- Valid Driver License
- Proficiency in field data collection and analysis.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work with customers, landowners, and clientele to facilitate power utility asset replacements and upgrades.
- Experience in joint-use make-ready construction.
- Capability to perform pre-field work, design analysis, and field work effectively.
- Experience with GPS mapping and data collection.
- Knowledge of NESC codes.
- Understanding of utility and distribution lines, overhead systems, and pole analysis.
The position requires daily reporting to the Grand Rapids, MI office. Upon arrival, the technician will be assigned to a Team Lead who will drive them to the job site location for the day in a company truck. Most work locations are within an hour of the office. Start time is based on work site location for the day. Usual start time is between 7am - 8am.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
