What You’ll Do In This Role

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems at Porter Hills Village and Cook Valley Estates. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems, proactively troubleshoots and resolves issues, and ensures full compliance with all federal, state, and local electrical codes and regulations. The Electrician plays a key role in supporting a safe, comfortable, and well‑maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and equipment.
  • Install electrical panels, outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
  • Inspect electrical components, systems, and equipment for malfunctions or potential issues.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues related to medical devices, lighting, and power distribution systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on circuits, breakers, wiring, and related electrical systems.
  • Install new electrical systems or upgrade existing systems to support evolving technology and infrastructure needs.
  • Work with contractors on electrical installations for new construction, renovations, or capital projects.
  • Provide accurate estimates and timelines for electrical work and projects.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and federal regulations and applicable electrical codes.
  • Stay current on building codes, safety protocols, and industry standards, particularly those specific to healthcare and senior living environments.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify electrical hazards or areas of concern.
  • Ensure electrical systems are safe and secure to protect team members, residents, and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with safety policies and regulations.
  • Partner with maintenance and facilities teams to address electrical issues efficiently.
  • Communicate proactively with leadership regarding electrical outages, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople, vendors, and construction professionals as needed.
What You’ll Need
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical work.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrician.
  • Experience in healthcare environments preferred.
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted state of Michigan driver’s license.
  • Position requires the ability to lift and move objects, weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.
