The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is seeking individuals to fill current and future Security Enforcement Officer openings at the Kent County Courthouse, Court facilities, and other County facilities as assigned.
Security Enforcement Officers are responsible for screening individuals and their belongings upon entry to the courthouse and for maintaining order and security within County facilities. Additional duties include operating security screening equipment; assisting court security staff with apprehending individuals suspected of illegal activity; and escorting judges, court personnel, witnesses, and jurors to ensure their safety. Positions may require evening hours.
Successful applicants will work as part of a highly motivated, team-oriented group of law enforcement professionals. These positions are part-time (no benefits) and incumbents may work up to 1,000 hours per calendar year

Candidates are subject to detailed personal, work, and criminal background investigations, as well as drug testing.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Responsible work history
- Free of felony convictions and in possession of a good driving record
- Ability to interact positively with individuals from various backgrounds
- Demonstrated sound character
- Previous experience as a law enforcement professional
- Corrections certification, or similar background
