Assistant Store Manager at Chico’s FAS, Inc. supports Store Manager in a customer and product‑focused sales culture, managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources functions to ensure great customer experience and maximum profitability.
Functional Responsibilities- Analyzes sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs and executes in‑store strategies.
- Establishes clear expectations and holds team and themselves accountable for brand, performance, and behavior standards.
- Controls payroll and supply budget.
- Performs basic operational activities (scheduling, target shrink audits, inventory, opening/closing duties, time‑sheet review, and merchandise flow).
- Manages cash handling, price changes, merchandise handling and register transactions in accordance with policy.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, loss prevention policies, operating procedures, and controls; conducts associate training.
- Administers inventory receipt/dispatch, daily floor replenishment, physical inventories.
- Maintains visual presentation, organization, and facility maintenance.
- Develops high‑performance culture, motivating sales team to meet targets.
- Trains and coaches on product knowledge and sales techniques.
- Assists in order fulfillment and selling.
- Motivates and inspires store team, developing shared vision and modeling core values.
- Promotes inclusive, collaborative problem solving.
- Communicates with store teams and Store Manager to lead positive change.
- Seeks personal development opportunities and solicits feedback to build leadership skill set.
- Models MAPS principles and standards, offering cohesive omni‑channel experience.
- Uses various techniques to recommend merchandise and serve customers.
- Ensures prompt resolution of customer concerns.
- Maintains fast and efficient register experience and current policies.
- Maintains consistent client communication through customer book and rewards program.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, and developing a high‑performing team.
- Supports training programs, seminars, and follow‑up.
- Coaches store team on performance and resolves HR issues.
- Drives associate engagement by recognizing and rewarding performance.
- Ensures compliance with employment practices and policies.
Other duties as assigned. This position may be found in multiple brands. Some duties may vary from brand to brand.
Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of retail management experience preferred.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Excellent communication, verbal, and written skills.
- Able to learn or adapt to technology provided by the company.
- Proven customer service skills and sales track record.
- Strong organizational skills and multi‑task ability.
- Strong leadership, training, and team‑building skills.
- Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations.
- Regular attendance is essential; flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays required.
- Constant walking/standing – 67–100 % of 8‑hour shift.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs – 1–33 % of 8‑hour shift.
- Frequent climbing – 34–66 % of 8‑hour shift.
