Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Managers/Supervisors, the Food & Beverage Team Lead is responsible for assisting with the daily operations and overseeing employees for their assigned food venue. This role offers hands-on experience in a leadership position, providing comprehensive training and skill development. Collaboration within our team across various food venues is key, prioritizing guest and team well-being through safety protocols.

• Be a working and hands-on leader at all times, specializing in guest service, cash handling, and food safety.
• Responsible for supervision of 1 – 5 employees.
• Provide continuous training of all food and beverage team members in guest service, food preparation & sanitation, cash handling, and company policies.
• Enforce food preparation and service standards, including food quality, standardized recipes and portion size, with emphasis on appeal, flavor, efficient preparation, guest service and sanitary and safe conditions.
• Maintain accurate and adequate inventory of all food, supplies and equipment.
• Ensure good working order of all equipment.
• Oversee proper receiving, storing, and distributing of all food and supplies.
• Communicate openly and timely with all Food & Beverage Management
• Assist employees with dissatisfied customers by offering customer-minded solutions when issues arise.
• Follow and administer all policies and procedures of the John Ball Zoo.

• Must be a minimum of 17 years of age
• Must have cash handling experience
• 1+ Years of Food Service Experience
• Superior guest service skills
• Ability to handle times of peak business in a calm and organized manner
• Ability to make sound judgements in the absence of management

• Will work in various environments both inside and outside and may occasionally be exposed to inclement weather, temperature and air quality variations.
• While performing the essential functions of this position the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical hazards; noxious fumes; blood borne pathogens; cleaning compounds; solvents; detergents; noise; and other hazards.
• Heat exposure near fryers, grills, and ovens

• Must be able to navigate entire zoo grounds to access workstations.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and exchange information accurately.
• Must be able to push, pull, raise and/or lower food & beverage ingredients, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Tasks may involve lifting above shoulder height or bending to reach low shelves.
• Chopping, stirring, assembling meals, and packaging orders require continuous hand and arm movement.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position, perform frequent movements, and/or remain mobile for several hours during a 6–8-hour shift.
• Must move quickly and efficiently during peak hours

• Must pass background check
