LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Inpatient Senior Progressive Care Unit
Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital, 3 Lacks is a 32 all‑private‑bed acute care unit that serves patients that are 65 & older. A high‑acuity adaptable unit; regularly has patients on telemetry, cardiac drips, high‑flow oxygen, Bi‑Pap, etc. Under the general direction of the Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN provides direct patient care to all ages of patients and assists the RN in performing and coordinating direct patient care for a specific group of patients.
Full access to medications is given to the LPN as they handle, prepare, and administer medications within the LPN scope of practice.

What you will do- Assist the RN with the initial and ongoing assessment of assigned patients through observation and data collection, as delegated by the RN.
- Perform activities delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including: venipuncture for specimens, initiating and discontinuing peripheral IV catheters, inserting and discontinuing indwelling urinary catheters, obtaining laboratory specimens, and performing basic bedside care and selected procedures under RN supervision such as 12‑lead ECG, dressing changes, routine respiratory care, vital signs, and intervention for life‑threatening conditions.
- Administer physician‑directed treatments such as eye irrigation, etc.
- Carry out unit‑specific activities such as activities of daily living appropriate to the patient’s condition.
- High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited LPN program.
- Current Practical Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
- CPR or BLS certification.
- Full time
- 3 – 12 hour shifts (7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.)
