About The Unit
6 Meijer Heart Center (6 Heart) is a 46‑bed cardiac and vascular progressive/stepdown unit at the Meijer Heart Center. The primary patient population includes patients with acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, post‑percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral artery disease, renal artery disease, aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, and heart rhythm disorders.

The center provides heart and vascular specialists who monitor and perform procedures ranging from bypass surgery to vascular surgery and heart and lung transplant. Through research, innovative treatments, and best practices, teams advance heart and vascular care.
Scope of Practice
The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, provides professional nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge. The RN delivers quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader, following Corewell Health policies and procedures, and incorporates patient and family input into care planning and education.
Qualifications
- Associate’s in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor’s in Nursing (required within 5 years)
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA (required within 90 days)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA (required within 6 months)
