Kent County Health Department is seeking a dedicated Public Health Nurse to join our Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) program. This full‑time role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special health needs and their families.
As part of the CSHCS team, you’ll use your nursing expertise in a case‑management setting, helping families navigate care, access resources, and feel supported every step of the way. You’ll coordinate services between families, the State of Michigan, and community partners, ensuring children receive the care they need to thrive. Much of this work is done through phone‑based education and support, with occasional home visits for more complex cases.

2026 Starting Wages- $32.61 – A Step:
Associate Degree in Nursing with 36 months or less experience as a Registered Nurse. - $33.81 – B Step:
Associate Degree in Nursing with 37–60 months of experience as a Registered Nurse. - $35.30 – C Step:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 36 months or less of experience as a Registered Nurse; or Associate Degree in Nursing with 61 months or more of experience as a Registered Nurse. - $36.46 – D Step:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 37 months or more experience as a Registered Nurse.
Graduation from a National League of Nursing accredited school of nursing and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan is required.
Additional Qualifications- Knowledge of established public health nursing practices and procedures.
- Ability to interact positively with clients, co‑workers, health care and human service practitioners and community representatives from a wide array of backgrounds.
All Kent County Health Department employees, regardless of position, are required to have their immunization status assessed and vaccinations brought up to date in accordance with the current CDC recommendations for health care professionals, with exceptions only as required by law. Mandatory vaccines include annual influenza vaccination.
