Responsibilities
Forest View Hospital, a 108‑bed psychiatric facility located seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, serves children, adolescents and adults. Licensed by the State of Michigan and accredited by the Joint Commission, it brings more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems.
The Psych RN – Weekend Nights shift provides nursing care on the clinical units as assigned, utilizing the nursing process. Patients are hospitalized for a broad variety of psychiatric disorders, including mood, anxiety and thought disorders. The position supports the hospital mission, vision and values through our Service Excellence program.
This is a part‑time, 24‑hour a week position (12‑hour shifts – 7:00 pm to 7:30 am).
- Promotes a warm and welcoming environment with new RNs, providing training, guidance and support consistent with patient care, safety standards and policy and procedure.
- Acts as backup contact for direction of other unit staff when charge is unavailable.
- Provides leadership to other personnel in crisis behavioral management.
- Utilizes the nursing process; develops an initial nursing treatment plan for each admitted patient.
- Is competent in assessing, planning and delivering care for patients with co‑occurring disorders, eating disorders and trauma backgrounds.
- Directs and participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Assists with discharge planning and works with patients at time of discharge.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- 6–12 months of previous psych nursing preferred, demonstrating a strong understanding of the unit they will be assisting in leadership.
- Current RN licensure in the state of Michigan.
- Demonstrates clinical competency in providing general nursing care; basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory.
- CPR/Handle With Care certification preferred.
