Position OverviewIn collaboration with Trinity Health Grand Rapids and Network 180, we are establishing a Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) including a Crisis Stabilization Unit and a Behavioral Health Brief Intervention service to serve residents of Kent County. As an RN at the BHCC, you will assess, intervene, and care for individuals experiencing acute behavioral crises, contributing to a safe and supportive environment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals.
Whatyou will do
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients' physical and mental health status upon admission.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other team members to develop personalized crisis intervention and stabilization plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical professionals.
- Monitor clients' progress and respond effectively to changes in their condition.
- Provide emotional support, psychoeducation, and coping strategies to clients and their families.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation and records.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school and program
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- In Grand Rapids, if ADN, must enroll in BSN within 6 months of hire and complete within 4 years
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in a mental health or crisis intervention setting
- Strong understanding of mental health conditions, crisis intervention techniques, and trauma-informed care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, informed decisions
- Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to working with individuals in crisis
