Adoptive Family Support Network (AFSN) is hiring an Adoptive Parent Consultant – Level I to serve adoptive families in Kalamazoo County. The role partners with adoptive parents to provide support, resources, and community connections through phone, text, email, video, and in‑person interactions.

The Adoptive Parent Consultant partners with adoptive parents to access support, information, and community resources. Service delivery occurs via phone, text, direct messaging, email, video, and in‑person visits. Primary functions include moderating virtual support groups, facilitating or developing parent‐partnered group formats, listening/response, community outreach, collaboration, and ongoing learning to better serve families. The role is part‑time (18–20 hours/week) with hybrid delivery and limited travel to Grand Rapids and throughout Michigan as needed.
The position is grant‑funded and delivered by the AFSN program at D.A. Blodgett – St. John's. The consultant reports to the AFSN Supervisor.
- Respond to contacts, provide support and/or resources, and follow up in a timely manner.
- In partnership with AFSN, cultivate inclusive and equitable relationships with diverse adoptive families, community partners, colleagues, and public/private agencies.
- Organize and host recruitment and retention activities that are client‑driven, culturally relevant, and accessible to all adoptive families.
- Facilitate or develop community‑based support groups.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure culturally responsive care and programming.
- Identify local and regional resources relevant to adoptive families.
