We are actively hiring a Team Leader for 2nd shift to join our team at our Grand Rapids plant. Americhem is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of custom color concentrates. Our Team Leader directs shift activities, compounding and manufacturing processes of products to meet customer specifications and schedule requirements. They coordinate the activities of the Production shift to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Act as a liaison between the lab, production, logistics, and maintenance.

The ideal candidate possess the following:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience in a similar industry (e.g. color, plastics, paints/inks, etc.) preferred
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot
  • Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Solid math and analytical skills
  • Associates or higher degree in Management, Quality or Engineering preferred.
  • Experience working with computers and computer software (Microsoft Suite, Oracle, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5s, Six Sigma preferred.
The applicant we seek will be responsible for:
  • Holds safety in highest regard by making good safety decisions, following safety procedures, watching out for the safety of self and others, contributing to safety improvements, and participating in safety programs.
  • Directs shift activities to ensure products are made safely, and according to process specifications and production schedule. Works as a lead operator, running equipment when necessary for business continuity
  • Communicates, verbally and electronically, daily production goals/gaps in production goals, shift to shift transfer, and end of shift reports.
  • Facilitates the daily execution for Work Force Development (WFD) and training activities to ensure new operators are trained and current operators are cross trained with fidelity to align with ISO/IATF certification standards as well as company goals and objectives
