CNC Engineer (Swiss & Multi-Axis | Esprit)
Full-Time | Onsite – Grand Rapids, MI
$90,000–$125,000 (Based on Experience) | Direct Hire | Full Benefits
We’re partnered with a high‑precision manufacturing company that designs and produces complex, close‑tolerance components for a variety of regulated and industrial sectors, including aerospace, medical, automotive, energy, and advanced industrial applications. The company continues to grow through ongoing investment in advanced CNC technology, process innovation, and skilled technical talent. This newly created role plays a key part in expanding machining capabilities and strengthening production efficiency.

- Develop, optimize, and support CNC programs for Swiss‑style and multi‑axis turning centers using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam and/or Esprit)
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T to create stable, repeatable machining processes
- Determine optimal tooling, fixturing, and work holding strategies to maximize part quality and throughput
- Support first‑article inspections work closely with Quality to meet customer and industry requirements
- Diagnose and resolve machining or programming issues to reduce downtime and scrap
- Provide hands‑on technical support to setup technicians and operators during prove‑outs and production runs
- Lead initiatives focused on cycle‑time reduction, tooling efficiency, and process consistency
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation, including programs, setup sheets, and process standards
- Promote a clean, safe, and organized shop‑floor environment
- 3+ years of hands‑on CNC programming experience, with a strong focus on lathe operations
- Practical experience programming and supporting Swiss‑style CNC lathes
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Esprit and/or Mastercam)
- Solid understanding of G‑code and M‑code
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T interpretation
- Experience machining materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium
- Ability to independently take projects from print review through production release
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering
- Background in aerospace, medical, or other precision manufacturing environments
- Experience in high‑mix / low‑volume or job‑shop settings
- Exposure to ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems
- History of driving measurable improvements in efficiency, scrap reduction, or uptime
- Technical certifications or formal CNC training
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Associate degree or technical certification in machining or manufacturing technology (preferred)
- Competitive base salary: $90,000–$125,000 DOE
